Khan al-Umdan, Old City of Acre: Decrepit and Stinky and Getting Worse

Khan al-Umdan or Caravanserai of the Pillars or Inn of the Columns, was designated as a world heritage site together with the rest of Acre’s old city in 2001. That’s how Khan al-Umdan looked in July 2011.

That’s how it looks now in September 2016 – decrepit, with sprouting grass, dumps of garbage and stinky as the rest of Acre’s old city.
