Qatar in Gaza: The Fox Guarding the Henhouse

September 29, 2025 By admin Leave a Comment

Qatar’s attempt to position itself as the dominant force in the reconstruction and administration of the Gaza Strip is nothing short of hypocrisy cloaked in humanitarian rhetoric. For years, Doha has funneled money, resources, and political capital into Hamas, nurturing the very machinery of terror that plunged Gaza into ruins. Now, in the aftermath of war, it seeks to appear as the benevolent patron of Gaza’s “day after.” The analogy is painfully obvious: allowing Qatar to take charge of Gaza’s future is akin to placing a fox in charge of guarding the henhouse.

Israel, understanding this danger, is working to minimize Qatari influence in the Strip. Relations between Jerusalem and Doha have sharply deteriorated, and not without reason. Every reconstruction dollar that Qatar injects into Gaza comes with invisible ink—lines of influence that strengthen extremists, undermine pragmatic governance, and entrench radical ideologies. What is presented as aid has historically been a Trojan horse, funding Hamas’ networks, paying salaries to operatives, and ensuring that the cycle of violence continues under a new guise of legitimacy.

The international community must not fall for Qatar’s polished narrative. The emirate excels at public diplomacy, buying legitimacy through sports, media, and diplomacy while maintaining a cozy relationship with Islamist movements and Iran. If it dominates Gaza’s reconstruction, we are not looking at a pathway to peace but at the recycling of instability, dressed up as progress. The Strip does not need another infusion of radical patronage disguised as humanitarian relief; it needs genuine rebuilding that disconnects from terror sponsorship and opens a horizon for pragmatic governance and real coexistence.

Israel’s objection to Qatari dominance is not stubbornness—it is strategic clarity. Handing Gaza’s future to Doha would ensure that the next generation grows up under the same shadow of manipulation, radical indoctrination, and foreign-controlled politics. The “day after” should not be written by those who bankrolled the day before.
