Netanyahu is reportedly desperate for an invitation to the White House in order to gain some semblance of legitimacy for his harebrained scheme to weaken the Israeli Supreme Court. However, the Biden administration has declined to meet with him.
As a result, it is likely that Netanyahu will respond with even more belligerent rhetoric and may even announce new settlements, to which the White House will undoubtedly protest. In response, Netanyahu may request a meeting to clarify the issue and offer to freeze the settlements indefinitely once the meeting is granted. However, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.
