Smart City Expo 2022 is presented in Tel Aviv to Israeli companies and local governments

The Hebrew country has brought more than 70 exhibitors to the Barcelona urban summit in recent years

Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the leading international event on cities and smart urban solutions organized by Fira de Barcelona presented in Tel Aviv (Israel) an outline of its next edition to local companies and institutions. The Hebrew country has a tradition for innovation and many disruptive companies. In addition, its cities have been committed to becoming international benchmarks for smart cities for years.

The meeting took place at the Spanish embassy in Israel and was attended by the Spanish ambassador to Israel, Ana Sálomon; Ugo Valenti, director of SCEWC; Sigal Weizman representative of the Tel Aviv City Council; and the general director of the Bar Ilan Center for Smartcities, Ran Goldstein, among other personalities. In recent years, SCEWC has hosted some 70 exhibitors from Israel, including Adasky, Checkpoint, Magna, Mobileye, Moovit, SaferPlace, Tondo Smart and Viisights, as well as the municipalities of Ashdod, Haifa, Jerusalem, Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv.

The director of Smart City Expo World Congress, Ugo Valenti, said that “Israel’s companies and institutions are strategic for Smart City Expo. For years the innovation and development work being done here has become an international benchmark and for an event like ours, which brings together every year the most important players in the broad urban innovation ecosystem, Israel is essential to show the world some of the most disruptive projects and solutions that are being implemented worldwide”.

SCEWC will feature more than 1,000 exhibitors at its 11th edition, held on November 15-17, 2022. Under the theme Cities inspired by people, the show and congress will boast pre-pandemic figures and will spread over two halls of Barcelona’s Gran Via venue. The congress program will focus on the tools and strategies that local governments, organizations and citizens can seize to ensure a better future for the coming generations.

The event will bring together over 400 international experts to share knowledge and tackle the most pressing challenges of urban transformation. To cover every approach and angle, the SCEWC congress program will be structured in eight topics: Economy, Enabling Technologies, Energy and Environment, Governance, Infrastructures and Buildings, Life and Inclusion, Mobility and Safety.

Infrastructure and mobility, critical elements
The meeting in Israel also served to present the second edition of Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, the international mobility summit focused on promoting the design and adoption of new models of urban mobility. Co-organized with EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, a body of the European Union, the event is also supported by leading companies and institutions. Key issues to be addressed include mobility as a service (MaaS), micro-mobility, public transport, last mile logistics, future and digital transport, transport infrastructure, and energy transition and efficiency, among others.
